Yesterday, confronted by Ron Paul’s supporters in Nashua, NH, Giuliani said: “ Talking about cutting back on the Patriot Act, talking about cutting back on electronic surveillance, …, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything more irresponsible than that.”

Ron Paul opposes electronic surveillance as a matter of principle. He is applying for the job of President and wants to follow the Constitution, his present and future employment contract. I don’t see any conflict of interest in his position.

But what about Giuliani, attacking Paul on that issue? Do people know that Rudy is a hired gun by an electronic surveillance company?

Rudy Guiliani may be a candidate for President, but he is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Giuliani Partners, that made over $100 million since he left office as mayor.  According to Wikipedia:

One of Giuliani Partners’ clients during this time included an admitted drug smuggler and millionaire founder of companies that perform electronic information gathering (datamining) on individuals, Hank Asher, who … hired Giuliani for his “influence with the federal government to enable Mr. Asher to take an active role in Seisint as a chief executive officer despite the allegations about his drug dealing.” Giuliani helped Asher’s company get $12 million in government grants.

Giuliani Partners had been paid: $2 million a year in fees, a commission on sales of Seisint products, and 800,000 warrants for Seisint stock, which would prove valuable when Seisent was sold to Lexis Nexis for $775 million.

What could be more irresponsible than to profit by assaulting our liberties?

Ron Paul opposes the Patriot Act, which he once called “a moratorium on constitutional rights.”
