We’ve accepted spreading the wealth. What about spreading the intellect? Think it won’t happen? It’s already happening.

Passover, Tea Parties, Slavery, and Redistribution

Passover, Tea Parties, Slavery, and Redistribution? All of these are connected.

Only 53% of Americans believe capitalism is better than socialism. How does socialism differ from capitalism? Redistribution. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” “Social justice.” “Economic justice.” “Fairness.”

Paying for somebody else’s housing – redistribution. Paying for somebody else’s healthcare – redistribution. Paying for somebody else’s education – redistribution. Paying different amounts of income tax per person – redistribution.

Why do we celebrate Passover? Because a long time ago, one April, Jews got up and left the country where they were slaves.

What is slavery? Using force to get other people’s property. What is redistribution? Using force to get other people’s property. [Read more →]

Counting freedom one day at a time

March 9th, 2009 · 1 Comment

freedomcount
Almost every day we hear a loud sucking sound from Washington where politicians are pumping away our freedom. Recording our emails. canceling secret ballots. Regulating our toilets.
It’s easy to get disappointed. It’s easy to get despaired.
That’s why we welcome a sight that tells us each day one of the best stories of people fighting for freedom. Each day for 30 days, until Passover, April 6th, 2009, the holiday celebrated for people breaking out of slavery.

Racism has no place on this planet, in any way, shape or form.

We reject positive action (or direct action, or positive discrimination) as a negative, discriminatory policy, which enslaves minorities within a social cast.

Scientific test on whether we need bailouts

February 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

How can we test whether the bailouts are needed? What is a scientific way of testing the validity of any decision?

Say you have two conflicting hypotheses, H1 or H2. Statistics says you have to design a critical region, such that the probability of getting there under only one of the hypothesis, say H1, is small. If we still get there, we reject H1.

Is it possible to transfer intellect / brain energy from one person to the other?

February 23rd, 2009 · 5 Comments

It is well established that a mother transfers brain energy to her child both during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. See for example here.

But do you know what Fret is? Have you heard about Deeksha?
Fret stands short for fluorescence energy transfer. It’s an application of nanotechnology developed by the scientists at Stanford University and the Carnegie Institution a few years ago. It transfers the levels of crucial chemicals in living brain cells involved in everything from learning to memory to mood and perception to nanosensors. See here.
