On my free time (after work) I developed an application for the iPhone. It turned out to be a huge success and it made quite a bit of money. Well, now I have to give 70% of that money to the government as income tax.

I will never again do anything that will make me pay income tax. 70% is just way too high.

I don't think its possible to change current society - but we can start a new one. Start a new country or something, without tax, or in such way that its not FORCED as it is now... damn I'm so depressed about this. Noone ever told me about IC!

@ Zkello Why? At the beginning of the 20 th century US Guv spent about 8% of GDP. Now it's about 50%.
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/us_20th_century_chart.html
Why do we assume that taxes only should go up?

This doesn't change the fact that if the income tax didn't exist other taxes would be higher to make up for it, taking your money just the same.

The problem with taxes is not the idea of sharing and distribution of wealth. Some people are naturally more fortunate than others. It is not a joke when we consider the fact that many fortunate children are born into wealthy families who could afford to give them good education and help them establish better political and social ties with society. The problem with taxes is that it does not go to help the less fortunate; it does not go to make education more affordable; it does not go to guarantee universal and adequate health care; it does not go to provide good job training. Rather, it goes to feed corporate greed which has a guaranteed clientele---the government; it goes to wars, to bailouts of giant financial institutions; it goes to keep the strategic class---the military establishment a rouge wasteful class. The problem with taxes is that it puts every worker in the US to life long slavery that serves the interest of the financial elite while instigating resentment and hatred between the people with some thinking they are forced to give their hard earned money to the poor. It is amusing to know that most of our salary every moth is expended in mortgage interest, insurance, income tax, sales tax, license fees, and utility bills that all goes into the pockets of the financial elite. We continue to be a die-hard consumer society that living in a rural cabin without running water and electricity bills would make us look like cavemen. We are so dependent on our system of government that it is to us like water to fish. I call that nothing short of slavery. I am not talking about the price of living in a free society because we are no longer free when the price is so outrageously tagged that it costs us our freedom itself. Even if the government cuts down all social programs, taxes will continue to be the fuel of all evil fire, simply because the tax money goes to make the wealthy wealthier, not that some small portion of it goes to help the poor. According to Chossudovsky, the war-pentagon and bailouts between the Bush-Obama administrations, 2.3 trillion dollars were wasted. This is the total Federal Revenue of our government! That means there was no money left over for anything else. Everything from Federal employee salaries to highway expenses must be funded from debt money! It is ridiculous that we continue to talk about cutting down Food Stamps and Medicare for the poor, and that seems to get on our nerves while most of our money goes to feed the endless hunger of the rich---Backwater, Halliburton, and Carlyle group, just to name few establishments in the military industrial complex camp, which does not seem to bother us at all. Wake up America!

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

I don't think that any self-respecting American can argue with that quote from the Constitution. Now here's one from the Bible: "Thou shalt not kill."

The people of the United States do not have any say in how their income tax is spent, thus we do not live in a true democracy. It is also a well known fact that it is not possible to pay income tax and obey the above commandment from God. Income tax kills people via wars, corporate corruption, etc. "Thou shalt not kill" doesn't make exceptions for those who are paying income tax to a government whose president says it is alright to kill. There are people, myself included, who believe that people are either of Satan and it is their deceived state of mind that enables them to kill by way of income tax and to commit any other sin; or that people are of God and they therefore cannot pay income tax because they believe that obeying the commandments is inherently necessary to worship of God. With income tax the way it is now, "true believers" cannot afford to raise families, much less anything else. These people are often labeled mentally ill and are forced to homelessness, disability payments, etc. because of their spiritual beliefs.

I suggest giving people the right to choose what governmental and/or non-profit agencies may spend their individual mandatory income tax contributions; and also that people who earn less than $15,000 year be exempt from having to pay any income tax; and the more an individual earns, the higher that persons income tax should be:
$15,000/yr. = 10% IT (100% individually chosen where spent)
$30,000/yr = 20% IT (90% IC / 10% governmentally chosen where spent)
$60,000/yr = 30% IT (80% IC / 20% GC)
$120,000/yr = 40% IT (70% IC / 30% GC)
$240,000/yr = 50% IT (60% IC / 40% GC)

Any thoughts are appreciated.
