gone are the good ole days – if they ever were here – and even then the government was lying to you – but i guess YOU were well cared for and didn’t notice anybody else’ situation. the government is made up of people who can be manipulated and lie and get payoffs. have you noticed that our roads and bridges are decaying, our military fights for OTHER COUNTRIES INTERESTS, school is not what it used to be – the reason we’re not invaded is because anybody over a certain age can own a gun here – what country in it’s right mind would invade a city full of angry gangstas wth guns. SHAZAAM !

You just read a comment by a person who fired 3 people because of tax amount I have to pay… I can’t justify paying more taxes every year than some people will earn in 10 years of their life. I don’t get anything for that money that is worth that much money.. so I will keep firing whenever I can…

2. God doesn’t pay taxes… a handful of smart evil people collect in the name of God from less smart people who are blind to that evil… wake up… religion is worse then the state,,,,

Ahh, remember the good old days? Remember when college was affordable, Dad could earn enough on his middle class salary so that mom could stay home with the kids, schools were safe, so were the streets (and they were paved). The economy was booming. When we Americans could say we were number one and mean it? Well boys and girls guess what funded all that middle class prosperity from 1940-1970? Taxes. That’s right income taxes and corporate taxes. In fact, the top income tax rate for the richest Americans never fell below 70% percent in all those years while the first tax bracket has stayed roughly in the 10-20% range. Now top earners are taxed at 35% and the capital gains tax (where the rich make most of their money anyway) is the lowest in the civilized world. Funny how we have cut income tax dramatically and yet society has in no way improved.
You anti tax people think that only the very poor benefit from tax dollars when nothing could be further from the truth. Have you ever flown? The FAA keeps you safe. Ever eaten? The FDA checks your food to make sure it’s pure. Ever driven? Those roads are maintained with tax dollars. Ever had your country invaded? The military protects us. Sent your kid to school? If an individual commits a crime which prison will he go to? If a corporation does who will fine them? The sad fact that you libertarian types need to understand is that we don’t live in a rural country of only a few million anymore where all justice can be carried out by hand. Our world is too big and too complicated now. We can’t just supply our own food, educated our own kids and make a living simply by working hard. We have to depend on someone (obviously the government) to regulate that stuff for us. Now you COULD do away with the income tax and shrink the government and deregulate everything but then who would take over? Private enterprise. When the government does you harm you can vote. When a private corporation does you harm and the government doesn’t have adequate resources to reprimand them then you can’t do anything. Take your choice.

@joel Why worry about things you can’t change? They only reason some things can’t be changed is because people are not passive to do anything about it. American laws are made by the people, f0r the people. At least, that’s how it is supposed to be. American citizens have a tremendous influence over our laws, but we’re not using it or excercising it.

And if you don’t think income tax is unfair, you’re conception of justice is poor.

you can complain about imcome tax, but that won’t change the fact that it’s there. Why worry about things you can’t change? Also, you cannot decide what or what isn’t fair, (the article was a very, very, very judgemental essay.)

On my free time (after work) I developed an application for the iPhone. It turned out to be a huge success and it made quite a bit of money. Well, now I have to give 70% of that money to the government as income tax.

I will never again do anything that will make me pay income tax. 70% is just way too high.

I don’t think its possible to change current society – but we can start a new one. Start a new country or something, without tax, or in such way that its not FORCED as it is now… damn I’m so depressed about this. Noone ever told me about IC!
