I am Dr. Zak Maymin, the editor of this site and the author of Publicani, the third best book on Earth.
After immigrating to the USA from Russia in 1980. I worked as a professor of mathematics at Northeastern University in Boston, and as a researcher, trader, and a hedge fund manager on Wall Street. I received a Ph.D. in mathematics from M.I.T. in 1981. I am married, have four children, and live in Greenwich, CT.
I wrote Publicani because I was concerned that the U.S. was moving in the wrong direction, and I decided to write a novel analyzing to what degree the government should be allowed to take forcefully from an individual something that he owns and share it with others.
